Krabbe disease is a rare and devastating condition where outcomes depend heavily on the timing of stem cell transplant. This IRB-approved research study partially examined the presentation and prevalence of irritability in children diagnosed with Krabbe disease. By understanding the unique timing of irritability onset, the frequency, and the tone during the episodes, this research aimed to distinguish Krabbe irritability from colic. These patterns could serve as an early biomarker, supporting faster diagnosis which is particularly valuable in regions without newborn screening for Krabbe disease.
